I’ve been through a right brainwashing over the last few days.  A 3 day meeting trying to Agile one of our work processes.   I’m not feeling very Agile.

Agile in this sense of process improvement is a slimmed down version of Lean Six Sigma which in itself is a slimmed down version of Six Sigma.

I have a few problems when you try to use this kind of stuff on processes which are heavily reliant on people and not machines but I guess this is a common complaint amongst people so I’ll not waste my time whinging about it this morning.

The meeting wasn’t a complete waste of my time though.  The future state looked very much like the current state, which was slightly worrying, but it was good to hear people talk about what collaboration tools they wanted to use.  Everyone in the meeting agreed that communication and collaboration were low and badly done so what they were going to do was send more e.mails and keep more Excel based tracking sheets.

It’s obvious I’ve got a bit more work to do with these people.
